Kitchen is Coming Along Nicely

With the exception of another flood in the basement (a minor one, thank God) things are progressing rather well.  We couldn't be happier with the wonderful team who is helping us get our kitchen finished.
The new kitchen door is installed.  We kept the original 1920s doorbell from the old one, though.  Maybe we can incorporate that into this door later on somehow.  It's neat!

Here's the view from the inside.  Some electrical work is in, and the hookup for the TV in the corner is almost ready.

This is the site of my future triple picture window--the best improvement we will make.  I can't wait!

We really needed our electrician to add an overhead light at the front entrance; it was rather dim.  A foyer should be welcoming and well-lit.  It sets the tone for your home I think.  I love the transoms, but we're going to get a new front door later and new transom glass that is more transparent.  This is my favorite part of the house.

The whole house kinda looks like this right now.  We needed a lot of elecrical work, additional outlets, cable hookups, etc.

The front porch is all wired for coach lights and pendants at each end.  I plan to spend a lot of time out there!  I have always wanted a wonderful porch like this, so I feel very lucky to be able to look forward to enjoying it.

Among all the drywall dust and chaos, a heart rests on the floor as a reminder that this is all a labor of love.

The ductwork is in.  This is between the living room and kitchen.  I didn't want any vents in the floor, but there was a reason why we couldn't just have the vent coming out of the cabinetry toe kick.  I was really upset about this, but there was nothing we could do.

We had some electrical outlets installed on each of the porches.  You never know when you will want to plug something in.  Maybe a cd player.  Can't wait to renovate this porch.  We're going to make it really charming, and get rid of the green astroturf-looking stuff.  We're going to make the front screened porch into another living room.  One day... kitchen first!

This is the support column for our future bar/island/peninsula area.  Right now there is an outlet on it because of code, but we're going to try to see if there is something else we can do to avoid such an eyesore on a decorative element.

There's Jeff among all the boxes in the living room.  He's looking for existing outlets and marking where he wants new ones.  We had to have a lot of 2-prong outlets changed to 3-prong.
