Kitchen Faucet

We decided on our kitchen faucet purchase.  Wow, things are starting to move fast now!  After all of this waiting it is rather nice to be getting some things done now that we are at a point where we can make purchasing decisions.

Our kitchen will have the Delta Single-Handle Pull-Down Sprayer from their Leland Collection.  This particular faucet receives rave reviews from consumers who love the magnatite docking technology to keep the sprayer in place.  I was iffy about the pull-down sprayers, but the reviews made me feel better about this purchase, and I do love the idea of convenience with the pull-down sprayer--plus, only one thing to clean around without a seperate sprayer.  We chose a stainless steel finish to match the sink and the drawer pulls.  I like that the arc of this faucet swivels 360 degrees to allow me to completely access the sink when necessary.

My original choice was for this gorgeous faucet from Moen's Waterhill collection:

I think this faucet is more attractive and more traditionally styled, which would suit our home and kitchen better.  However, when Jeff and I were comparing specifications he discovered that it is not compliant with the California lead laws.  I was so disappointed--and shocked, really.  LEAD?  In a faucet?  Where people drink?  Where people wash their hands?  That makes absolutely no sense to me.  Why are manufacturers even allowed to create products for consumers containing such a dangerous element?  I am sure it is a miniscule amount, but with all the pollution we are exposed to daily I worry about cumulative effects.
