Jeff took the day off today to take care of a few meetings at the house and for the granite installation. I really wanted to be there, but this flu is really kicking my behind. I want to help with things, and I think it would be fascinating to actually see our countertops being installed. I find the process so interesting. I'm so disappointed that I cannot be there. Especially since Jeff and I have waited so long to see all of this progress.
We had to just scrap the idea of the backsplash shelf unfortunately. I'm disappointed greatly by that because I need one for convenience, but I'll figure out something. I'm going to love cooking in this kitchen regardless.
And code strikes again... We found out that the very visible decorative side of of our peninsula must have an ugly outlet. I don't even need an outlet there! But now I HAVE to have one to ruin this focal point because of stupid code. It's as if you can buy a home, but it's not really yours because there is always someone else to tell you what you have to do to it. I don't think that's fair. For structural issues I get it, but for an outlet that I don't even need, and that I have to pay for? Unacceptable. Yeah, the flu is making me extra crabby;-P
Oh, and the floor guy was over today to look at the floor underneath the hideous red carpet in the downstairs hallway. MOLD. Apparently the toilet leaks, but fortunately it is confined to a small area that can easily be replaced. The evenness is ok too, so we're a go for a new floor there.
Our designer strikes again. I ordered the number of cabinet knobs and pulls that she specified, but she was wrong and we need 3 more pulls. Well, the price on those has doubled since I bought the rest, and of course there are additional shipping and handling charges. I am really unhappy about that. We also needed to order another knob--overnight one of them spontaneously shattered. The workers discovered it all over the floor this morning. That is very weird. Ghosts? LOL. Or maybe I shouldn't be laughing. The house is over 90 years old...
